MEMORY IN MARBLE
Print on silver foil mounted on frame, limited, signed, 40×60 cm | 2021
In the course of time, the skeletal fragments of former marine creatures transform to sedimentary carbonate rock, which then becomes marble through metamorphosis and crystallisation.
The artist Dimitrios Filipotis from Tinos brought this marble back to life when he created the sculpture „Wood Crusher“.
My digitally altered photograph of this sculpture brings back the sea as the source of all life. The merging of the water with the sculpture is a reference to our connection with everything around us. Our reflection in the work connects us to the image and to the past, present and future.

FLOWING
Digitally altered photographs, print on Tyvek | 2007
Life is impossible without water.
This is well known, yet hardly anyone consciously thinks about how much water is needed for industry, agriculture and our daily use.
The unusual combination of sea water with objects and surroundings gives these photographs a surreal quality that is intended to trigger associations and provoke thought.
