FIBONACCI CIRCLES

Digital artwork, 4 variants (CMYK), 2022

The Fibonacci number sequence, which has been known since antiquity, is not only found in the ratio of the radii of the Golden Spiral, it also forms the pattern for growth processes in nature. It is omnipresent in the microcosm and macrocosm, for example in the shapes of snail shells, flower heads and galaxies.

The circles, symbols of perfection and closed systems, represent here in their size distribution the Fibonacci sequence and thus form the connection between infinity (the infinite series of numbers) and completeness (the perfect closed circle).

The Fibonacci circles float in a digitally created, artificial „galaxy“ that confronts the world we know with macrocosmic structures and attempts to categorise and concretise the common structures by superimposing mathematical on natural-looking digital images.
