TRANSFER

Video approx. 2 min.| 2001

Just like the snowball effect, small harmless impulses in a conversation between two people are transferred and amplified until the situation escalates, similar to an avalanche.

However, the video starts at the end and shows the course of action in reverse order: the film begins with a massive argument and becomes less aggressive step by step until it ends in absolute peace. The action is accompanied by rhythmically edited sounds that keep up with the tension.

In this way, attention is drawn on the one hand to the brief moments in which one decides whether to let an impulse (such as aggression) take hold, and on the other hand to the fact that a catastrophe can no longer be stopped after a certain stage due to its momentum.
